About us

International Symposium on Earthquake Hazard and Mitigation (QUAKESAFE 2026) rrepresents a collective effort by Universiti TeknologiMalaysia (UTM), collaborating agencies, and strategic partners in advancing knowledge and resilience in the field of earthquake hazard and mitigation. As the first symposium of its kind, this event aims to strengthen collaboration, knowledge sharing, and multidisciplinary discussion on earthquake-related challenges and solutions, particularly within the Southeast Asian region.
The symposium features distinguished keynote speakers and specialists from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Japan, covering topics ranging from seismic hazard mapping, tectonic geodesy, ground motion analysis, earthquake resistant design, risk assessment, and disaster preparedness. One of the aspirations highlighted in QUAKESAFE 2026 is to establish a dedicated platform where people know exactly who to meet, where to refer, whenever matters related to earthquakes and seismic hazards arise. The symposium is envisioned as an important step towards connecting experts, institutions, researchers, and stakeholders under one collaborative network for future resilience and disaster risk reduction efforts.
QUAKESAFE 2026 is more than just a symposium — it is a collective effort towards building awareness, strengthening scientific understanding, and enhancing regional preparedness for future seismic events.
We warmly welcome researchers, students, practitioners, agencies, and industry players to be part of this meaningful gathering and contribute towards a safer and more resilient future.
