The Department of Structure and Materials is the largest department in the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. There are currently 55 academic staff serving in this department, consisting of 9 Professors, 19 Associate Professors, and 27 Lecturers. This department is led by Associate Professor Dr. Roslli bin Noor Mohamed, assisted by 2 heads of laboratories, 4 heads of undergraduate panels, and 4 postgraduate programme coordinators.
Under its current leadership, the department continues to strengthen its research networks with local and international universities and impactful industrial collaborations. The department also houses an accredited laboratory in compliance with MS ISO/IEC 17025 known as the Civil Engineering Testing Unit (CETU), along with a Building Information Modeling (BIM) laboratory, ensuring excellence in both academic and industrial services.
The Department of Structure and Materials is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate studies, training, research, and consultancy works, particularly in the fields of Civil Engineering Materials, Structural Behaviour and Applications, Numerical and Finite Element Analysis and Construction Project Management.
