POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES
TEACHING AND LEARNING METHOD FOR THE TRANSITION -TO – ENDEMIC PHASE EFFECTIVE 2022/2023 SESSION
With all due respect, please be informed that the Senate Meeting No. 10/2021/2022 dated 27 July 2022 has approved the Teaching and Learning Implementation Method (T&L) for the Transition to Endemic Phase effective 2022/2023 session as follows:
1. | Courses that do not require laboratory/practical/hands-on activities are carried out physically and face-to-face. However, the blended learning support (BLS) will continue to be implemented along with the physical and face-to-face T&L. |
2. | Postgraduate courses by research mode that do not involve laboratory/ practical/hands-on activities can be implemented physically and face-to-face or online. |
3. | The implementation of the Substitute Blended Learning (SBL), where part of the SLT(Student Learning Time) of face-to-face and physical T&L delivery sessions is replaced by the online SLT, is permitted. This permission is subject to the approval of the Academic Committee (JKA) and the determination of the relevant professional accreditation body. The implementation of this PTG is in accordance with the UTMPTG Implementation Guide for the quality strengthening. |
4. | Courses that require laboratory/practical/hands-on/measuring tent/studio activities are carried out face-to-face and physically. |
5. | The industrial training for students is in accordance with the regulations of the company where the students undergo the industrial training. |
6. | The supervision for the undergraduate and postgraduate studies will be implemented online or physically and face-to-face, depending on the suitability of the student and supervisor. |
7. | The postgraduate research involving laboratory/studio/practical/workshop will be carried out face-to-face and physically. Postgraduate research that does not involve laboratory/studio/practical/workshop can be carried out face-to-face and physically or online. |
8. | The formative and summative assessment are fully implemented physically and face-to-face. For the courses in which the alternative type of assessment is mentioned in the Course Information, the assessment can be carried out physically and face-to-face or online. |
9. | The oral examinations for postgraduates can be conducted online or physically and face-to-face. However, research theses received starting 1 January 2023, will be given the priority to be assessed physically and face-to-face. The implementation of online examination is permitted based on the needs of the examiner and student, the infrastructure availability and in compliance with the online oral exam implementation guidelines issued by the School of Graduate Studies. |
10. | The oral examinations for undergraduates are conducted face-to-face and physically. |
11. | This implementation applies to all academic programs except for the Open and Distance Learning programs and programs that have been approved for online learning implementation by the University Management Committee. |
12. | The implementation of all T&L methods is subject to current amendments made by the National Security Council and the Ministry of Higher Education in compliance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) set |

Implementation of teaching and learning of the School of Civil Engineering courses in Semester 2 Session 2021/2022

- The School of Civil Engineering (SKA) still maintains online teaching and learning for all courses owned by SKA until the end of semester 2 session 2021/2022.
- The teaching of SKA undergraduate laboratory courses (SEAA 2012 and SEAA 3012) is also implemented online until the end of semester 2 session 2021/2022.
- Presentation of final year project (SKAB 4034) for final year undergraduate students is also held online.
- For postgraduates, oral exam presentations, master by coursework project presentations and PhD fast track presentation are conducted online.
- Online final examinations are also still maintained for all courses owned by the School of Civil Engineering.

2. | Also, please be informed that the approval of the University Management Committee Meeting No. 17/2021 dated 8 September 2021 stipulates that only students who have received 2 complete doses of Covid-19 Vaccine will be allowed to apply for admission to the UTM campus. |

The Categories of students who are given priority to enter the campus for teaching and learning purposes are subject to the current announcements by the National Security Council (MKN) and the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE). All student admissions into the campus must comply with the Standard Operating Procedures set by the Department of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs). The priority categories of students are as follows:

Implementation of teaching and learning of post-graduate courses of the School of Civil Engineering in Semester 2 Session 2020/2021
1) In relation to the above, I on behalf of the management of the School of Civil Engineering would like to inform that the school intends to implement teaching and learning in a blended / hybrid for master project and research courses (PhD and M.Phil) in Semester 2 Session 2020/2021 . Through this method, students can only come to school if it involves laboratory activities only.
2) Apart from the above courses, the teaching and learning method is conducted online in semester 2 of the 2020/2021 session.

TEACHING AND LEARNING METHODS FOR SEMESTER 1 SESSION 2020/2021
With all due respect, please be informed that University Senate Meeting No. 2/2020 dated 25th November 2020 has approved the Teaching and Learning Methods that will be implemented in Semester I Session 2020/2021 based on COVID-19 Pandemic and the announcement of the National Security Council (NSC) dated 7th November, 2020 as follows:
- All the undergraduate and post graduate courses has to be conducted online.
- Courses involving Industrial Training must follow the stated Stipulation of Attendance based on the training industry.
iii. Courses involving laboratories, studios and practical has to be implemented online. Face-to-face meetings are allowed from 1st January 2021, but subject to the announcement by the National Security Council (MKN) and the Ministry of Higher Education.
- Courses involving Service Learning has to be fully conducted online.
- All types of assessment whether formative or summative has to be implemented online.
