Zulhilmi Ismail graduated with B.Eng in Civil Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Johor in 1998. Then, in 2002 with the same university, he completed a Master of Engineering (M.Eng) in Hydraulics. Following completion his Ph.D in Hydraulics River from Loughborough University, England in 2007, he start focus for his research interest on physical and numerical modelling in flooded rivers, sediment transport in straight and meandering compound channels. Zulhilmi started his academic career at UTM as a tutor in 1998. Currently, he is a senior lecturer in the Department of Hydraulics and Hydrology (DHH), UTM since 2008. At the same time zulhilmi has also appointed as a research manager for Coastal and Offshore Engineering Institute modelling team and managed to secure several consultancy projects that require river and coastal area studies. Zulhilmi confident with a good blend of hydraulics engineering knowledge on physical model, field experience and computational modelling is indispensable for producing competent modellers with enough engineering sense to capably produce works of stirling quality with high levels of confidence. Currently, zulhilmi registered to Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and registered Subject Consultant to Department of Environment (DOE). As a main responsibility concerning teaching, the past accumulated knowledge is very useful towards the teaching of a Master subject such as Fluvial Hydraulics (MAL1033) and Environmental Hydraulics (MAL1303). The involvement in teaching of subject started since 2001. Meanwhile, two main subjects related to hydraulics which includes Fluid Mechanics (SAM2513) and Hydraulics Open Channel (SAA3622/SAM3513/SAB2513), have been taught at undergraduate level. Regarding the supervision responsibility, Zulhilmi supervised 50 Undergraduate Projects (successfully completed) and currently supervise postgraduate and undergraduate levels including: 5 phD students, 2 Master student by research and 10 Undergraduates Pre Project/Final Year Project (currently under supervision).
