Personal Information

Dr. Siti Norafida binti Jusoh is a lecturer for Department of Geotechnics and Transportation at Faculty of Civil Engineering, UTM and a research member of Soft Soil Research Group (SSRG).

Dr. Siti Norafida Jusoh was a alumni of Sekolah Menengah Sains Muar and started her education in Degree of Civil Engineering with First Class Honours in 2005 in UTM. During her study, she was a very active student; involved in Student College Affairs in Kolej Tun Hussien Onn, UTM and experienced various student activities such as Projek Jelajah Semenanjung Malaysia (PROSMA 2003) (as Deputy Director of programme). This program was joint collaboration with Ministry of  Culture and Arts and Ministry of Youth and Sports at that time which to enlighten campaign of Budi Bahasa.  She entitled with Anugerah Hadiah Akademik from Faculty of Civil Engineering in her degree convocation. Then she continue her master in UTM and earned her Master of Engineering (Civil – Geotechnics) in 2007.  Her master project research title is Seepage Flow in Homogeneous and Zoned Earthfill Dam. With highly passion and determination, she continues her study in PhD at UTM with research title of Performance of Precast Bolted Tunnel Lining Through Physical and Numerical Modelling and alhamdulillah graduated in year 2016.

She has been appointed as tutor of Faculty of Civil Engineering in 2006 and lecturer in 2007. She experienced teaching in Soil Mechanics, Geotechnics, Environmental Geotechnical (Master subject), Advanced Geotechnical Design and Analyses (Master subject- covers about tunnelling and instrumentation), Tunnel Engineering (Master subject) and also laboratory subject.

Her research interest focuses on soil-structure interaction, soft soil, tunnel, earth dam analysis, foundation, geo-enviroment, ground improvement, site investigation and any geotechnics and civil engineering field. Her biggest interest is finite element modelling in geotechnics although there also laboratory testing available. Her current research project is involve tunnel in soft soil and rock both in laboratory and numerical modelling and she would like to share this knowledge with people or student who interested. She also would like to collaborate with experts on real-data measurement for geotechnics project especially in tunnel.

Alhamdulillah recently, she managed to arrange one short courses of Tunnel Engineering (with help of student class representative/team and Dr.Rini Asnida) that was a joint collaboration with Tunnel and Underground Space Technical Division (TUSTD), IEM. To read more, go to
