Dr. Redzuan obtained his Diploma in Civil Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur  in 1985. Upon graduation, he joined PETRONAS to work as Technical Assistant. After serving PETRONAS for 3 1/2 years, he quited to further his study at the University of Hartford, CT, USA in 1985. In 1987, he graduated with B.Sc. in Civil Engineering. Dr. Redzuan then worked as project engineer at Mardec Engineering Sdn. Bhd. In 1989, he joined UTM to work as Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Civil Engineering. He left to the USA in 1993 to pursue his graduate study and completed his M.Eng in Structures from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York. Dr. Redzuan returned to UTM in 1995 and served as Lecturer for five years. From 2000 to 2004, Dr. Redzuan went to USA again to do postgraduate degree at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Viginia. He obtained his PhD in Civil Engineering in 2004. Dr. Redzuan is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Structures and Materials, University Teknologi Malaysia, Johor Bahru.

Dr. Redzuan give lectures in the field of structural mechanics, analysis and design at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The courses that he had taught include Structural Mechanics, Structural Theory, Structural Analysis, Advanced Structural Analysis, Finite Element Method, and Bridge Engineering (Modelling). Beside teaching, Dr. Redzuan also involved in the consultancy work in collaboration with local consultants, especially in the structural modelling and analysis. Dr. Redzuan’s research interest is in the FEM application in structural analysis particularly in composite structures.
