Associate Professor Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohd. Sam is a lecturer since 1988 at the Department of Structure and Materials, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.  Besides teaching, he is actively involve in research, publications and consultations. Currently he is the Director of UTM Construction Research Centre (CRC). He also has the experienced to be the Head of Construction Materials Research Group (CMRG) at the Faculty of Civil Engineering from July 2015 until February 2017, and Vice President of the Concrete Society of Malaysia (CSM) from 2016 to 2018. He was the Director of the UTM Equine Centre from June 2010 to June 2014 and has vast experienced related to equine activities. His field of expertise is specifically in Concrete Technology: including but not limited to strength and durability of concrete, high performance concrete, high strength concrete, fibre reinforced concrete, cement replacement materials, waste materials in concrete, sustainable concrete, self healing concrete, self curing concrete, concrete strengthening and repair, and advanced composite materials or also known as fibre reinforced polymer. One of his main concerns related to concrete in construction is how to enhance the quality of the manufactured concrete in practice and concrete satisfy all the design criteria requirements.
